Entuziazm (1931)

A visual and aural experience of clips taken and put together in the Soviet montage style. Also the USSR's first sound film. Directed by Dziga Vertov.

It's hard to really describe this film. There's no narrative plot, much like Vertov's "Man with a Movie Camera", but it does have some interesting sequences. Mostly taken from the Don Basin region of the Ukraine, Vertov puts together sounds and images, but they don't always sync up (on purpose). The version we saw was a restored version of the film, attempting to re-create the original film as Vertov intended - with sounds running past visuals and vice versa.
